STEM challenge

23 Mar 2017

Primary 7 were tested on their grasp of the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths) this week. They were given a task to individually create a structure which would:

- clear a 3D object, and

- support the weight of a 'Martin's Mice' novel without any overhang.

They were given a range of materials: milk bottles, cardboard tubing, art straws, drinking straw, card, polystyrene sheets, cotton wool balls and masking tape. The winners would be judged, firstly, on how well they passed the criteria and, secondly, on their physical appearance.

Judged by our panel of inspectors, it was decided that: Aislinn Moore, Nicole Hawthorne, Danielle McBride (back row), Sinead Rafferty, Keira Culleton and Abhlinn McGlinchey (front row) would go through to the STEM school's competition to represent the school. Well done girls!
